Security
You must bring photographic identification with you and carry it with you at all times. Suitable photographic identification includes passport or photographic driving licence.
Everyone attending the count and declaration must undergo security a bag search.
Getting to the Royal Highland Centre
The Royal Highland Centre is on the west side of Edinburgh, located next to Edinburgh Airport, within minutes of the M8 and M9 and in easy reach of the city centre. It sits between Newbridge roundabout and the A8/airport roundabout, one of the main routes into the city.
By road
The Royal Highland Centre sits off Glasgow Road (A8) between Newbridge roundabout and the A8/Airport roundabout, one of the main routes into the city. Access to the Royal Highland Centre is from A8/Airport roundabout on to Eastfield Road. From there signposts provide directions to the venue along Fairview Road onto Ingliston Road. As you approach the venue, you will be signposted to the north car park and entrance. The Highland Hall is a short walk from the car park.
By bus or tram
The nearest bus stop (Hilton Edinburgh Airport Hotel) is a 10-15 minute walk from the Royal Highland Centre. The nearest tram stop at the Ingliston Park and Ride is a 15-20 minute walk from the Royal Highland Centre.
From Edinburgh, Transport for Edinburgh runs regular bus and tram services including bus number 48, 35 and the Airport Express (100). Check the Lothian Buses timetables or tram times, or call 0131 555 6363.
The Stagecoach Jet747 bus service from Fife goes to the airport.
Citylink operate services with drop-offs on the A8 close to the Royal Highland Centre.
By rail
Haymarket is the nearest train station with excellent train links across the UK. From outside the station, you can get a taxi from the station to the Royal Highland Centre. For train times contact National Rail on 08457 48 49 50.
By air
The Royal Highland Centre is a short taxi ride away from Edinburgh Airport.
Parking
Parking for count agents, observers and guests of the Chief Counting Officer and Counting Officer is in the Royal Highland Centre’s north car park.
