An updated list of Council by-elections to be held through summer 2021
There continues to be a schedule of Council by-elections to be held through the coming months to fill various vacancies that have arisen on Councils across Scotland. The current list can be downloaded from the website here, and is up to date as at 15 June 2021.
As with the recent Scottish Parliamentary Election, the Councils will all be complying with the full range of Covid-19 control measures including enhanced ventilation, physical distancing, additional hygeine, face coverings where appropriate and extra signage. All polling places and the count venues will be safe and controlled environments with the events operated based on guidance fomr Public Health Scotland, the Electoral Commission and the EMB.
If registered, voters will also have the option to vote by post uand the franchise will be the same as on 6 May.
To register to vote you must
- be aged 14 or over
- have no legal incapacity to vote
- be a citizen who has the right to remain resident in Scotland irrespective of your nationality.
You may not be eligible to vote in every election.
You can register to vote if you are homeless or living in a hostel.
